Florida has one of the largest veteran populations in the nation — roughly 1.5 million — supported by an unusual concentration of installations across multiple service branches. MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa hosts U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command, while Naval Air Station Jacksonville and adjacent Naval Station Mayport make the Jacksonville area one of the largest Navy population centers in the country. Eglin Air Force Base in the Panhandle ranks among the largest installations by area, with Tallahassee as the state capital.
Free vehicle pickup is available statewide — from Jacksonville and the First Coast down through Orlando, Tampa Bay, and South Florida, out to the Keys and across the Panhandle. As an umbrella program, VeteransDonations.org accepts every type of titled vehicle: cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, jet skis, and RVs — a practical fit given Florida's coastal and lake-heavy lifestyle. Whether the vehicle is in a Miami garage or a Panhandle barn, we coordinate the right transport at no cost.
Florida vehicle transfers go through the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. After the pickup, you'll file a Notice of Sale (Form HSMV 82050) with FLHSMV within 30 days — the form that documents the transfer and releases you from civil liability for the vehicle. Florida's donation mix reflects the state's snowbird and coastal character. Classic cars and muscle cars from retirees who brought their collections south, boats and personal watercraft from every port between Pensacola and the Keys, motorcycles from riders across the peninsula, and RVs and motorhomes from full-time and part-time travelers are all common. Add tractors and farm equipment from the citrus and sugar country, semi-trucks from freight corridors, and aircraft from Florida's active general aviation fleet, and the range is broad.
