Iowa is home to approximately 160,000 veterans. While the state doesn't host a major active-duty installation, the Iowa National Guard maintains a significant presence and Camp Dodge in Johnston serves as the Guard's central operations hub. Des Moines, the state capital, sits at the center of the state.
Free vehicle pickup is available across Iowa — from the Des Moines metro east through Cedar Rapids and Iowa City to the Quad Cities, north to Waterloo, and west to Council Bluffs and the Missouri River. VeteransDonations.org accepts any titled vehicle: cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, RVs, ATVs. Whether the vehicle is in an Ames driveway or sitting on rural Iowa farmland, we arrange the right transport at no cost.
Iowa vehicle title transfers go through the Iowa Department of Transportation's Motor Vehicle Division. After pickup, you'll follow Iowa's standard transfer-of-ownership process to release liability — the appropriate form is available at county treasurer's offices, which handle vehicle titling locally, and we'll guide you to the right step. Iowa is corn belt agriculture through and through, and the donation mix reflects it — tractors, combines, farm equipment, dump trailers, and grain hauling utility trailers are common across the state's 99 counties. Add pickups from farm and town, semi-trucks from freight and agricultural hauling operations, motorcycles from Des Moines and the Quad Cities, and the occasional classic car from a barn find, and the range is complete.
