What Trucks We Accept

Truck donations cover the full range of the American truck landscape — from family pickups and small work trucks up through commercial big rigs, semi-tractors, cement mixers, and Class 8 vocational units. Condition is rarely a disqualifier: non-running trucks, high-mileage fleet units, blown-engine project trucks, and retired commercial equipment are all workable donations. This guide walks through the main categories and what to expect within each.

Light-Duty Pickup Trucks

Half-ton pickups are the largest single donation category by volume. Common models include Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra, and Nissan Titan. Both gas and diesel-equipped light-duty pickups are accepted (Powerstroke on Ford diesel, Duramax on GM, and Cummins on Ram, though the light-duty diesel population is smaller than in heavier trucks).

Regular cab, extended cab (SuperCab, Double Cab, Access Cab, Quad Cab), and crew cab (SuperCrew, CrewMax, Mega Cab) configurations are all in scope. Short bed, standard bed, and long bed variants are equally welcome, as are 2WD and 4WD.

Heavy-Duty Pickup Trucks

Three-quarter-ton and one-ton pickups are common donations from work operations, farms, ranches, and personal use. Common models include Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty, Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD, and Ram 2500 and 3500.

Diesel-powered heavy-duty pickups are heavily represented — Powerstroke on Ford Super Duty, Duramax on GM HD, and Cummins on Ram HD. Dual rear wheel (dually) configurations, particularly on one-ton pickups used for hauling and towing, are common.

Chassis cab variants — Ford F-450 and F-550, Ram 4500 and 5500, Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD — that were commonly upfit into flatbeds, service trucks, and specialty configurations bridge the line between pickup and medium-duty work truck.

Mid-Size Pickups

Mid-size pickups make up a smaller but active donation category. Common models include Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Ford Ranger, Ford Maverick, and Hyundai Santa Cruz.

Older and Classic Pickup Trucks

Vintage pickups have a strong collector and daily-driver market. Common types include older Ford F-100 and F-150 through the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s; Chevrolet C10 and K10 (1960-1998 C/K series); Dodge D-Series and W-Series (pre-Ram); Ram trucks from the first-generation body through more recent classics; older Toyota pickups (Hilux and pre-Tacoma models); International Harvester pickups; and Studebaker, Willys, and other vintage American trucks. Non-running vintage pickups and project trucks are accepted alongside running examples.

Utility and Service Trucks

Utility trucks — service bodies with tool compartments, bucket trucks used in electrical and utility work, and mechanic's service trucks — are accepted. Common configurations include Ford E-450 and F-450/F-550 cutaway chassis with service bodies, Chevrolet and GMC 4500 and 5500 chassis with utility upfits, and medium-duty Freightliner M2, Kenworth T170/T270, International MV, and Isuzu chassis with specialty bodies.

Flatbed Trucks

Flatbed trucks with deck bodies mounted on medium-duty chassis are accepted. Common bases include Ford F-550 and F-750, Ram 5500, Chevrolet and GMC 4500-6500, Freightliner M2 106, Kenworth T270 and T370, International MV and DuraStar, and Isuzu NPR/NQR/NRR and Hino 155/195/258 medium-duty cabovers.

Box Trucks and Cube Vans

Box trucks — medium-duty trucks with an enclosed cargo box, used for delivery, moving, and commercial cargo — are one of the most common commercial truck donations. Common models include Ford E-350 and E-450 cutaway chassis with box bodies, Ford F-650 and F-750, Freightliner M2 106, International MV, Isuzu NPR/NQR/NRR/NPR-HD/NPR-XD, and Hino 155/195/258/268 series. Lift-gate equipped and non-lift-gate configurations are both accepted.

Dump Trucks

Dump trucks across the size spectrum are accepted. Small dump trucks built on Ford F-450 to F-550 chassis, Ram 5500, and Chevrolet/GMC 5500-6500 sit at the light end. Medium-duty dump trucks on Freightliner M2 106, Kenworth T270 and T370, International MV and 4300, and Isuzu chassis handle mid-size hauling. Heavy-duty vocational dump trucks — single-axle, tandem, and tri-axle — on Peterbilt 337, 348, and 367, Kenworth T440, T470, T880, Mack Granite, Freightliner 108SD and 114SD, Western Star 4700, and International HX chassis are all workable donations.

Tow Trucks and Wreckers

Tow trucks are accepted. Common configurations include rollback flatbed carriers (Ford F-550 and F-650, Ram 5500, Freightliner M2, International MV, Hino 258), wheel-lift wreckers, integrated wreckers, and heavy-duty rotators. Century, Jerr-Dan, Miller, Vulcan, and Chevron are common upfitter names on wrecker bodies.

Cement Mixers and Concrete Vocational Trucks

Ready-mix concrete trucks — cement mixers with the rotating drum body — are accepted. Typical chassis include Peterbilt 357, 365, and 367; Mack Granite MHD and Mack TerraPro; Kenworth T800 and T880; Freightliner 108SD and 114SD; International HX and HX520; and Western Star 4700 and 4900. McNeilus, Beck, London, and Continental mixer bodies are common upfits. Concrete pumping trucks and other specialized concrete equipment are evaluated case by case.

Semi-Tractors and Big Rigs (18-Wheelers)

Semi-tractors — the truck (tractor) side of a tractor-trailer combination — are a major donation category. Class 8 tractors from the standard OEMs are all accepted: Freightliner Cascadia, Century Class, Coronado, Argosy, FLD, and Columbia; Peterbilt 579, 567, 389, 379, 386, and 386; Kenworth T680, T880, W900, T800, and T660; Mack Anthem, Pinnacle, and CH; Volvo VNL, VNR, VNM, and VN; International LT, LoneStar, ProStar, and 9900i; and Western Star 4900, 5700, 5800, 49X, and 57X.

Day cabs (used for local and regional freight, drayage, port work, and vocational duty) and sleeper cabs (used for over-the-road long-haul freight) are both accepted. Owner-operator trucks, small fleet retirements, and larger fleet dispositions are all workable.

Fleet and Commercial Retirements

Multiple-truck fleet retirements are workable donations. Situations include:

Mention batch or fleet donation situations on the first conversation so the logistics can be planned appropriately.

Condition Realities

Trucks are evaluated across the full condition spectrum. Common situations that don't disqualify a donation:

The Tractor-Trailer Boundary

For tractor-trailer combinations, this hub covers the truck/tractor unit — the drivable semi-tractor with the fifth-wheel plate. The semi-trailer (dry van, refrigerated reefer, commercial flatbed, tanker, lowboy, or other trailer type) is covered by the Trailer donation hub.

If you have both a tractor and a trailer to donate, they can be donated together as a package or separately. Mention the arrangement on the first conversation so both sides can be coordinated.

What Requires Extra Evaluation

A small number of situations require case-by-case review:

Describe your situation candidly when reaching out. Many donations that look questionable on the surface are workable once the specifics are understood.
